Merge videos
Join several clips into a single MP4. Clips can have different formats, sizes and frame rates; they are matched automatically.
How to merge videos
- Select or drop two to five videos at once. They are listed in the order they will play. Use the arrows to reorder them.
- Choose the output size. Same as first clip uses the first video’s resolution and frame rate.
- Press Merge videos and download the combined MP4.
How mismatched clips are handled
Clips filmed on different devices rarely match. One may be vertical and 30 fps, another landscape and 60 fps. To join them cleanly, every clip is converted to the same size, frame rate and audio format before being joined:
- Each clip is scaled to fit the output size and padded with black where its shape differs, so nothing is stretched or cut off.
- All clips are converted to the frame rate of the first clip.
- Audio is converted to 48 kHz stereo. Clips without sound get silence for their duration, so the sound stays in sync.
Because everything is re-encoded, merging takes about as long as converting all the clips. The total length of all clips together must stay within the duration limit.
Questions about Merge videos
Can I merge an MP4 and a MOV?
Yes. Clips can be in any supported input format and are combined into one MP4.
Why are there black bars?
When clips have different shapes, for example vertical and horizontal, bars are added instead of stretching or cropping. Crop the clips first with the cropper if you want them to fill the frame.
Can I add transitions?
No. Clips are joined with straight cuts.
How many clips can I merge?
Up to five per job. To join more, merge them in batches and then merge the results.
