Privacy policy

This policy describes what EasyVideoConverter stores when you use it, why, and for how long. In short: your videos are kept only as long as needed to process and download them.

Videos you upload

  • Uploaded files are saved under a random name in a storage folder that is not accessible from the web. The original file name is used only to name your download; it is not used to store the file.
  • Each upload is checked with FFprobe and processed with FFmpeg on our server. Nobody looks at the content.
  • The upload is deleted as soon as processing finishes, whether it succeeds or fails. For the metadata viewer, it is deleted in the same request it was uploaded in.
  • The result is kept for 60 minutes so you can download it, then deleted automatically by a scheduled cleanup that runs every few minutes. You can delete it earlier with Delete files now.
  • Results can only be downloaded from the browser session that created the job, using a random access key generated for that job.

Job records

For each job we keep a database record with the tool, the settings you chose, technical details of the file (format, codec, resolution, duration, size), the status, and timestamps. The record is linked to a random job identifier, not to you. File names are removed from the record when files are deleted, and records are removed entirely after 7 days.

Logs and abuse prevention

  • Application logs record job events (tool, file size, processing time, error codes). They don’t contain file names, IP addresses or access keys.
  • To limit abuse, we count uploads per IP address per hour. The address is stored only as a keyed one-way hash, and the counts are deleted after 24 hours.
  • Our hosting provider’s web server keeps standard access logs (including IP addresses) under its own retention policy.

Cookies

EasyVideoConverter sets one cookie, vk_sid, a session cookie needed to protect forms and to make sure only you can download your results. It expires when you close the browser. It is only set on pages that offer a tool, not on the guides or information pages. EasyVideoConverter itself sets no other cookie. Google AdSense sets advertising cookies only according to the choice you make in its consent message (see below).

Advertising

The service is free and funded by advertising from Google AdSense. Pages that can show ads load Google’s ad tag, which also displays the message of Google’s certified consent management platform (CMP): visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland accept or refuse advertising cookies there, before any ad is served. Advertising is not switched on yet on this site; this section describes what will apply once it is.

  • If you accept, Google AdSense may set or read cookies and similar identifiers to show ads, limit how often you see them and measure them, and passes your choice to its advertising partners through the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework. Ads may be personalised according to Google’s settings: see how Google uses cookies in advertising and Google’s ad settings.
  • Your choice is stored in your browser by the consent platform, not on our servers, so you are not asked on every page.
  • You can change your mind at any time with Manage my ad choices at the bottom of every page, which reopens the consent message. Cookies already set by the partner can be deleted in your browser settings.
  • Ads are never shown inside the files you process, and the advertising partner receives no information about your videos.

Audience measurement

Visits are counted with Umami, without cookies and without personal data: pages visited, referring site, country and device type, counted in aggregate.

Third parties

The site is hosted by o2switch in France. Fonts, scripts and styles are served from this site. The only other requests go to Umami and Google AdSense (ad tag and consent message). No third party receives your files.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask what data we hold about you and ask for it to be deleted. Since uploads are deleted within 60 minutes and job records aren’t linked to individuals, we usually hold nothing that identifies you. To ask a question or make a request, email contact@easyvideoconverter.online. You can also complain to your data protection authority (in France, the CNIL). The publisher of the site is identified in the legal notice.
